MOMMY, WHY DOES DADDY SPEAK FUNNY? By Joseph Jony Charles         My mother told me that people who come from Italy speak Italian. And people who come from Russia speak Russian. But some people in the same country, yes a small group of people, may speak more than their national tongue. For example, there are French people who speak English, Spanish and Russian. There are some Americans who speak Japanese, Spanish, English, Farsi and French. Speaking more than one language is very important and vital to a person these days.         My mother told me that my father is different because he is from another culture. Yet, he has learned to live in the American culture by learning the American language and ways. She told me that if I want to live in another country, I will have to do the same thing. My father is interested in taking me, my mother and brother to his birth country to see my grandparents, live, breathe and immerse in the culture and language. I am getting to like French. But my mother told me to learn Spanish first because it is going to help me in the future. I enjoy sharing the kitchen space with my mother because she teaches me a lot of common sense and every day wisdom.         I guess she wants me to be wise and kind to my classmates by the time I go to school.
