The year is 2106. The human race finally united under one world government and has begun to colonize planets out to the Alpha Centari star system and beyond with the advent of the faster than light starships based on the invention of the McKinney gravitonic field generator. Science soon created a variety of artificially intelligent robots and androids to assist in the colonization of these new resources. However, the Earth Government had restricted these AIs (Artificial Intelligence) to colonization, none were allowed to be used for military applications. They created mining AIs with heavy armor and drills for probing the minerals of other planets, agricultural AIs to clear and harvest crops, and humanoid AIs to serve the human race as they assisted in the creation of new technical advancements. Humanoid AIs are relatively easy to identify since the skin quality had not been perfected and they generated more heat than the average human. Only the heavily armored Mining, agricultural, and drone ship AIs were large enough to shield the heat of their power centers.

         The medical community jumped on the technological bandwagon and used the AI blueprints to create limbs for amputees, organs for damaged ones and microchips to enhance mental deficiencies, creating a subrace of human cyborgs. Due to the inherent risk, cyborg technologies were restricted to medical cases and only the law prevented them to be used to enhance soldiers. The only allowable enhancement to soldiers were the addition of computer-cerebral interface jacks placed on the back of the neck near the base of the head of pilots to increase their response time in space battles when the AIs changed their drone ships into fighters.

         When war broke out in 2088 among the colonists and their AIs against the Home Galaxy, science realized they needed specially trained soldiers to defeat the colonists and their AIs, and to protect the Earth's monopoly on the galaxy. Genetics was seen as the solution to this need and a special breed of humans was created. The doctors used only those DNA strains that were considered the human ideal for soldiers altered with various animal DNA strains, particularly feline and bear DNA. These new soldiers were grown at an accelerated rate with subliminal indoctrination and born at 18. They were then trained in the arts of war before being sent out to fight for the Earth Government on various colonial planets. These new soldiers, called Artificial Organisms, were soon nicked named Alpha-Omegas or A-Os. They are easily distinguished from a naturally born human since the A-Os are genetically perfect in size and appearance with an alabaster complexion that soon becomes bronzed after being exposed to the elements. They also had almost fang-like canines that showed when they smiled or talked. No one ever mistook a natural born human for an A-O.

         When the war ended in 2090 in the Earth's favor, so did the Artificial Organism Project. The remaining A-Os were placed in military patrol boats and carriers to make sure the colonies were protected, as well as being kept under strict EarthGov control.

         However, the one thing that remained constant in the human race was the need to feel superior to others. The AIs, Borgs and A-Os were looked down upon by the natural born humans who treated them as second citizens and prevented them from gaining the inalienable rights of the average human. AIs were treated as slaves to their masters, A-Os had limited rights since they served in the military, and the Borgs were restricted from civil service employment. AIs and Borgs were also looked down upon by the A-Os as inferior while humans were looked up upon as an ideal to what they wished they could become but would never achieve due to the animal taint in their blood.

         So when war broke out in 2105, started by the AIs who still wanted their freedom and would kill any human who got in their way, most historians were not the least bit surprised, especially after the A-O Project started up again in full swing.
