I have heard lots of conflicting information about the quality of Print On Demand (POD) paperbacks. What kind of quality can we expect?
All our trade paperbacks are quality publications. They are perfect bound, with four-color covers and are the same size as a hard-cover book. The interiors are printed on good quality acid-free paper that should hold up for years.
Why don't you just have a large print run, and sell your books through distributors, like other publishers?
We are perfectly willing to sell through distributors. However, they are reluctant to deal with us, fearing delays in shipping, and wary of the new technology that allows this printint process. POD books are more expensive to print, but they are Earth-friendly. As many as two thirds of the copies printed in a large print run end up in land fills or sold off to remainder houses. Because our books are not printed until they are needed, they do not fill up landfills, or get shuffled quickly out of print in order to avoid inventory taxes.
I hear you have a "No Returns" policy. If I buy a book I can't sell, I think, I ought to be able to return it.
With mass market publishers, if a book is ordered anddoesn't sell, you usually strip off the covers and throw the books awayandsend in the covers back to the publisher for a credit. We don't like to see perfectly good books thrown away. It is a vast waste of our country's natural resources. A full refund will be given for returned copies, if they are in marketable condition--that means ready to sell to someone else. All you have to do to comply with our return policy, is ship the books back to us at:

and we will give youcredit for them.
Do I have to pay the frieght if I send them back?
Yes, but in the ordinary course of business, you pay the freight when the books are delivered to you. With our free shipping, you only have shipping charges if you decide to return the book. Some distributors give a 30% discount— some more, but by the time you pay for shipping you end up paying close to that extra 10% in shipping charges.
