Mary (Cox-Bilz) Pace

A published author and editor, illustrator, teacher, and national art award recipient, I was born with a birth defect called Arthrogryposis. Confined to a motorized wheel chair, I type manuscripts using a mouth-stick held between my teeth (29 cwam) and do art work by holding a pen in my teeth.

Writing is my passion. I’ve authored six books. One co-authored with award-winning author and Publisher of Ebooksonthe.net (www.ebooksonthe.net), Arline Chase.

How to Promote, Advertise, and Market Your Published Book.  It’s a step-by-step guide that offers tools that you can integrate into your own marketing plan. These suggestions have been strategies used by authors to pull their books out of boxes, onto book shelves, and into a customer's hands. Here's how to get attention for your published book, from two authors who have practiced what they preach.

Christmas in the Country is an anthology of Christmas Stories written by accomplished writers worldwide and edited and illustrated by me. 50% of the royalties are donated to Easter Seals. Available at www.ebooksonthe.net or www.amazon.com.

At the Gate Called Beautiful is a collection of stories about Jesus’ responses to pain and suffering. Here’s an excerpt:  “I was born crippled. My arms and legs are deformed. Were you born with problems? Do you have problems? Will you come with me?” Available at www.ebooksonthe.net or www.amazon.com.

Letters in My Casket is a story told by a woman of color serving as a Lieutenant in the Armed Forces in World War II (Fiction) and available at www.ebooksonthe.net or www.amazon.com.

Your True Friend Always, Louisa is a short novella set during the Civil War and told by a young woman housebound with her elderly mother while father and brothers are out on the battlefield. It is also out-of-print

Love Aunt Alma is an inspirational poetry devotional with scripture and thought written by an elderly woman during the Great Depression (fiction). Out-of-Print. May find copies on the Internet.

I’ve also written regular columns for the local newspaper and online sites (suite101.com, themestream.com—when it was around, etc.), along with numerous articles for other publications.

A people-person, I’ve served as marketing specialist for 7 years (clients included Lincoln Financial, John Hancock, etc.), written scripts, and conducted telemarketing for financial planners from my home office.

And I love to share, which means teaching to me. I’ve taught writing classes for my local college on subjects such as Introduction to Poetry, Writing Memoirs and Family History, along with online writing workshops at www.kingdomeducation.com , www.LVSOnline.com ,etc. A marked privilege for me was instructing promoting, advertising, and marketing workshops for published authors on a national level for the International Women’s Writing Guild www.iwwg.org Summer Conference in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Currently I’m pursuing a PhD degree in Biblical Studies at Northwestern Theological Seminary, where I graduated as Magna Cum Laude with a Masters degree in Theology. My undergraduate work was at Salisbury State University in Maryland with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and an Associates degree in Religious Education from School of the Bible in California. I also earned an Accounting diploma from Woodrow Wilson Business School in Virginia, studied writing with Writer’s Digest School, and attended and taught at a number of writer’s workshops and conferences.

My God is an awesome God! I thank Him for His goodness and pray daily for wisdom and strength to press on—and never give up.
