GET PUBLISHED NOW!: How to Write a Novel with Agent-Editor Appeal and How to Find the Right Agent and Editor for You (A Full-Day Seminar)

If you have ever looked at your writing career, or publishing in general, and wondered, “What is going on here?  Why am I getting so many rejections?” this is the seminar for you.  Publishing professionals - literary agents and book editors - search for stories and characters that will satisfy a wide readership.  They also search for savvy authors who understand two basic principles.  First, that successful commercial novels have certain qualities in common.  Second, that writers who deal effectively with the publishing business have certain qualities in common as well.  In this revelatory seminar, publishing veteran, Alice Orr, instills those qualities in you.

Just Call Me Alice

I have been blessed with a wide range of experience in writing and publishing, as teacher, lecturer, published author, editor and literary agent.  I was a book editor of mystery-suspense and women’s fiction for a New York City publishing house.  Next, I became President of Alice Orr Agency, also in Manhattan, where I was pleased and proud to represent many talented, successful authors including New York Times and USA Today bestsellers and numerous award winners.

I am also an author myself, with numerous articles and thirteen popular fiction novels published so far.  I have been honored as a novelist with two national awards and have appeared on Amazon.com’s list of the Fifty Most Popular Titles from my publisher and imprint.

My latest nonfiction book - No More Rejections: 50 Secrets to Writing A Manuscript That Sells, published by Writers Digest Books - is a comprehensive guide to writing fiction with editor-agent appeal.  Amazon.com very generously says, “This book has it all.”  On my CD - How To Stop Shooting Your Writing Career In the Foot - I share my insider’s knowledge of how the publishing business really works and how to make it really work for you.

I lecture nationally on writing and publishing.  My GET PUBLISHED NOW! Seminars instruct authors in specific strategies for Regaining Power Over the Fate of Your Writing Career In the Publishing Marketplace.  To find out more, e-mail me at AOrrTalk@comcast.net or go to my website, www.aliceorrseminars.com.

I was a past president of the New York City chapter of Mystery Writers of America and vice president of Sisters In Crime Midlantic Chapter.  I was named Agent of the Year by both the New Jersey and New York Chapters of RWA, as well as Editor of the Year by the National Booklovers Convention.

I am married with two grown children and two perfect grandchildren.  I spend part of each year in New York City to keep current with the publishing scene, but I reside on Vashon Island, Washington where my husband and I own and manage Pink Tractor Farm.

YOU CAN BRING A GET PUBLISHED NOW! SEMINAR TO YOUR AREA

HERE ARE TWO WAYS TO DO THAT

# 1:  A Local Group Books a Get Published Now! Seminar for Its Members.

Tell the group leadership about GET PUBLISHED NOW! Seminars.

Direct them to this website at www.aliceorrseminars.com.

Point out that Alice’s seminars are an effective group fundraiser.

Alice’s seminars attract attendees from all segments of the community.

Encourage them to contact Alice at Aorrtalk@comcast.net

Sponsorship means, the group pays Alice’s fee & expenses and keeps the rest.

# 2: You (plus a couple of friends) Produce a Get Published Now! Seminar Yourself.

This is easy, feasible, fun, and - oh, yes - PROFITABLE.

Contact Alice and tell her you would like to produce a seminar in your area.

She will guide you through all the steps of doing so, as follows:

Decide which Get Published Now! Seminar you want to present.

Put together an e-mail list of all potential attendees and groups in your area.

Consult with Alice re: whether your list is sufficient to support a seminar.

Find a low cost venue for holding the seminar (community room, etc).

Estimate other costs & cost-cuts (e.g.: E-mail invitation costs are minimal).

Total your costs: Alice’s fee + travel, etc. expenses + cost of the room +other.

Defray Alice’s expenses by using someone’s frequent flyer miles for travel.

Defray her expenses further by arranging for her to stay in someone’s home.

Decide what to charge per person (to cover expenses and make profit, too).

Work out event date with Alice, book the room & start e-mailing everyone.

Promote the event by every free or low-cost means you can think of.

Insist upon pre-payment by a given date (but, of course, take walk-in’s too).

Alice will help generously with ideas and promotional materials.

YOU PROFIT EITHER WAY

# 1: If your referral to a group results in a Get Published Now! Seminar booking, Alice will arrange free admission to the Seminar for you -

Plus, a free Manuscript Evaluation or Career Consultation with Alice.

# 2:  If you produce a Get Published Now! Seminar yourself (or with friends),

You share in any financial profit from the event -

And, receive a free Manuscript Evaluation or Career Consultation with Alice.

Give this possibility serious consideration

It just might be right for YOU
